Directorate General Resettlement

The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) is an inter-service organization functioning under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence. It serves as the apex nodal agency committed to the seamless transition of retiring Armed Forces personnel into second career in civil. Every year, approximately 60,000 highly disciplined, technically skilled, and young military personnel retire from active service. DGR acts as the definitive bridge that re-channels this invaluable human resource back into nation building.

Our Core Mission and Role
The fundamental goal of DGR is the economic and social rehabilitation of Ex-Servicemen (ESM), including disabled soldiers, widows, and their dependents. This mandate is executed through three powerful pillars:

• Structured Employment Opportunities: Maximizing the placement of ESM in Central and State Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and private corporations.
• Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment Schemes:Implementing highly stable business models such as the DGR Security Agency Scheme, Management of CNG Stations, Coal Loading and Transportation, and Oil Product Agencies.
